Rob Flewell, CMI, the other half of Madison Creative's originators, started his medical illustration education by getting caught drawing in an Anatomy and Physiology class (Univ. of Southern maine-1990). Professor saw something there and had him draw her anatomy reference manual for the Rhesus Monkey (AND ACTUALLY PAID HIM!!!). She suggested he look into Medical Illustration for a living. Rob now had a clear direction! So, Rob sought out a school that taught Medical Illustration and quickly transferred to RIT (was in dad's homestate so more financial aid - Rob was broke then, and RIT cost a mintl!).
Rob graduated, but immediately sought and got accepted in RIT's pre-med degree program (he loved his gross anatomy classes too much). Unfortunately Rob's Medical career was cut short by a Medical Illustration job offer in Boston! Ditching a promising career in medicine (Rob laughs), he worked in Boston for a few years, until he met Michelle. Rob, seeking to impress Michelle, landed a low-paying, but prestigious job at DUKE University Med center (Rob laughs again). They both went down to NC together. Rob finds out quickly that the life of med students is one of PURE HELL, and thanks the lord to this day that he chose the right path.
Rob gains his academic experience, and moves on to patient education in Western Massachusetts! That lasts for a few years, but Rob feels the need to go out on his own (the birth of Madison Creative), So, Rob and Michelle sell the house and set up shop in the lovely, but wacky city of Providnce, RI. So, he has been doing that ever since!
